Celebrating Planet Earth’s Day

Local Democracy Agency Sisak took a part in organising program for Planet Earth’s Day, together with ecological Association Sisacka eko akcija, Association for child and youth care Novi svijet and Association for environment protection and underwater activities Kvirin, which was held on 22 and 23 April in Sisak. The program had gathered different sports, cultural and educational activities. It started with bike cycling from Veliki Kaptol to tower of Stari grad, where people took part in different sport activities and competitions, from which archery competition was most popular. Additionally, representatives from gathered associations have presented their work to citizens, by distributing their materials. After finishing the sport activities, all gathered took part in cleaning the environment near the tower. Further to program, there was a projection of documentary movie „Inconvenient truth“, directed by Al Gore, which is related to climate changes. In the evening of next day, a sociologist and an ecological activist Drazen Simlesa held a public lecture on sustainable development.
