On April 21, 2023, representatives of the Sisak-Moslavina county Platform for the Development of School Volunteering team gathered in the Sisak Vocational School at the first Platform team meeting.
Besides the project partners Local Democracy Agency Sisak, Human Rights House Zagreb and Sisak Vocational School, four other schools participated: High School Glina, Elementary School Budaševo-Topolovac-Gušće, Elementary School Mate Lovraka Petrinja and Elementary School Zorka Sever Popovača.
Meetings of the Platform for the development of school volunteering are a great way to build a network between different schools in Sisak-Moslavina County, place where school representatives’ can work together, and exchange experience and good practices.
During the project, representatives will have five meetings where they will, through cooperation with the project team, work on the design and implementation of volunteer actions based on social justice, equality, and the inclusion of vulnerable groups.
During the meeting, Tina Đaković and Sara Sinčić from the Human Rights House Zagreb, presented the results of the research conducted within the project in 6 schools participating in the project as well – Sisak Vocational School (partner), Elementary School Budaševo-Topolovac-Gušće, Secondary School Ivana Trnskog Hrvatska Kostajnica, High School Glina, Elementary School Viktorovac, and High School Viktorovac. The objective of the research was to analyse the educational needs of students and educational workers in order to design and implement practical content in schools related to participatory democracy, active citizenship, social justice and social inclusion of vulnerable groups.
After the presentation of the results, a short lecture on the concept of social justice was held including guidelines on designing volunteer actions in schools on topics of social justice, together with their students.
The next meeting is scheduled for the beginning of July 2023, when the project partner Norsensus Mediaforum will present examples of good practices of school volunteer work in Norway.
The project “Platform for the development of school volunteering” is supported with € 87.870,00 financial support from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway within the European Economic Area and Active citizens fund.
