The kick-off meeting of the “Sisak Volunteer’ Network” project team meeting is held in LDA Sisak premises on the 8 September 2016, which is the upgrade of the similar project implemented during 2014 and 2015. The project is funding the Croatian Ministry of social policy and youth and the Town of Sisak.
On behalf of the LDA Sisak, as the project leader, Mrs. Paula Raužan and Mrs. Matea Strižić attended this working meeting; Mrs. Zrinka Hafizović from the Town of Sisak and Mrs. Alenka Ljubešić from Centre for social welfare Sisak on behalf of the project partners; and Mrs. Valentina Ivanković Pelikan, director of the House of Culture “Cristal cube of serenity” Sisak Town Theatre and Mrs. Milijana Borojević, director of the Sisak Tourist Board, on behalf of the project associates.
Different activities aiming to promote, develop and validate benefits of volunteering as community development strength are foreseen by the project, in line with the work of the Volunteer Centre Sisak, operating within the LDA Sisak.
Besides support to organisers of volunteering and to volunteers in Sisak area, the project is providing opportunities for additional strengthening of the local network of volunteering organisers, such as the training of volunteers’ coordinators. Further, on, it is planned to monitor the Sisak Voluntary Policy 2015-2020 implementation by strengthening the Committee for Development of Volunteering of the Town of Sisak, established by the end of the year 2015, as unique body in Croatia. Validating the work of volunteers and volunteers’ coordinators is in special focus of the project. Therefore, besides the traditional award for Sisak volunteers of the year, a new award for the Sisak volunteers’ coordinators is to be established, following with the opening of the Sisak voluntary programs exhibition in Culture Home gallery. The project has a set of different kind of promotional activities aiming to present possibilities for volunteering to the citizens organising by associations and public institutions. Traditional Fair of associations and public institutions is to be held in May 2017, during a national manifestation “Croatia is volunteering”.
