Did you know that marketing is an important tool for civil society organizations to promote their goals and engage with targeted groups? That’s why the team from the Local Democracy Agency Sisak and the partner organization Human Rights House Zagreb participated in a series of social media and marketing training sessions from June to August 2023, conducted by SMART Consulting. These sessions were designed to strengthen the capacities and visibility of the association. The teams from both organizations had the opportunity to acquire valuable skills and knowledge to navigate effectively in the constantly evolving digital age.
Harnessing the Power of Social Media
In an era where social media has become an integral part of our lives, its significance for organizations is enormous. The social media training aimed at harnessing their potential in promoting and presenting the association’s work to target audiences. We learned that creating engaging posts is not just about hitting the “share” button; it involves detailed planning, daily engagement, knowledge of which platform suits different types of content, identifying the target audience, and much more. This knowledge will greatly assist us in creating interesting content in the future and promoting the work of the association. As a result of the training, LDA Sisak is now present on Instagram, and we invite you to start following us.
Visual Storytelling Through Photography and Video
The education program also included modules on photography and video production. We learned about camera settings, photography composition, lighting, focus, and more. During the video training, we delved into shooting and editing video footage, honed our framing, composition, and lighting skills. We also explored audio recording techniques and selecting the appropriate video formats for various social media platforms. The practical aspect of these sessions allowed us to apply our newly acquired knowledge and visually capture and convey the activities we undertake, showcase our work, and engage our audience. Creating an Effective Marketing Strategy
During the training, we also learned about crafting a marketing strategy, conducting a SWOT analysis, assessing external and internal factors, and choosing a strategy that aligns with our communication goals. Thanks to this analysis and our understanding of our strengths and weaknesses, we are able to adapt to changing circumstances and ensure that our work is in line with our mission. Thanks to this education, we have developed a new Marketing strategy for LDA Sisak.
Empowering the Association for a Sustainable Future
The SMART consulting education program has empowered LDA Sisak and Human Rights House Zagreb with various skills and knowledge, from mastering engagement on social media to designing a marketing strategy. These skills are key tools for effectively advocating for and engaging with our organizations in the community. With these new skills, we are better prepared to promote our initiatives and activities and influence positive changes in our rapidly changing society.
The Platform for Development of School Volunteering project is implemented by the Local Democracy Agency Sisak in cooperation with partners Vocational School Sisak, Human Rights House Zagreb, and Norsensus Mediaforum Norway. The project is supported with €87,870.00 in financial assistance through the Active Citizens Fund, funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the EEA Grants.
