Young participants of the LDA Sisak Long-term education “Active youth for local development” visited association Carpe Diem in Karlovac where they got familiar with their work and programs. The Carpe Diem, founded in 2005, works on improving life quality, contributes to community welfare and development, especially focused on human resources and civil society development. They implemented plenty of projects in the past years, whereof the biggest and the most important are long-term programs. Local volunteer’ centre “VolonterKA”, Karlovac county Youth Info Centre, Youth Job Club, Youth Counselling Centre and Youth Centre “Grabrik”.
LDA Sisak youth group gathers young people form Sisak, Lekenik and Martinska Ves area, working as a part of the project “Active youth for local development”. The youngsters had several workshops on human rights, democracy, active citizenship and project management within the project, and even organised local activities as well. This study visit was valuable opportunity to get to know different aspects of youth work in other communities and for exchange with the association staff and with two French European Voluntary Service volunteers currently living in Karlovac.
