Local volunteer services in Derventa, Sisak and Bihać opened

Although the project “Volunteering for cross-border local community development” is running little more than three months, OKC Banja Luka was able to convey his long experience in building structures and developing volunteer management to partners from Sisak, Bihać and Derventa.

BiosPLUS Derventa has thus opened Local volunteer service in Derventa on 8 June 2011 in Center for Culture Derventa. Municipality of Derventa will allocate space for LVS, which is just about ready for use, and until then LVS will work within the premises of the organization BiosPLUS. At the opening, guests were addressed by Ms Snježana Kovačević, representative of Municipality of Derventa, and director of BiosPLUS Mr. Drago Tadić. After Mr. Tadić, Ms Irena Djumic and Mr. Ante Jurić- Marijanović presented the role of LVS in the local community all present, as well as its specific mode of operation.

The day after, 9 June 2011., Local volunteer servise in Sisak was opened in the premises of Local Democracy Agency Sisak, project lead partner in Croatia, where it will function. At the opening, the guests were addressed by Mr. Andrija Rudic, deputy of the Sisačko-Moslavačka County Perfect, afterwards the director of the LDA Sisak Ms Paula Raužan stressed the importance of this center for Sisak and its surroundings. Paula pointed out that her career started by volunteering, more than 15 years ago, and that this moment is really very important for her personally. In the end, Mr. Agan Velić, Deputy of the Mayor of Sisak, stressed out the great importance of cross-border cooperation of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina because of disturbed social and economic relations between the two countries.

Association of Women from Una opened the Local volunteer servise in Bihać on Tuesday, 14 June 2011. That this event is important to Bihać, and the entire local community, confirmed the adviser to Prime Minister of Una-Sana canton, Mr. Franjo Jurić in the premises of the association Women from Una, where it will operate. Ms Aida Behrem, director of Association Women from Una, briefly welcomed all guests and invited them to use services of this center. After ceremonial ribbon cutting, LVS Bihac was officially opened.

In front of OKC Banja Luka on all openings were present Ms Irena Djumic, coordinator of the “Volunteering for cross-border local community development”, and project assistant Mr. Ante Juric Marijanovic.
