Preparation meeting within a youth exchange project “Young People and Civil Society – A Step to the Common European Values”, was held from the 21st to 24th February 2008 in Targovishte, Bulgaria. The youth exchange will take place 1-10 April 2008 in Bulgaria, Targovishte.
The host organisation is “Club NGO Targovishte” and other participant organisations are from Ukraine “Young Women’s Lobby”, Portugal “Juventude de Sanguedo” and Local Democracy Agency Sisak (Croatia).
The main aim of this exchange is to enable the participants form the four countries to learn how they can become active citizens and how they can become actively and effectively involved in youth activities and youth organisations both in their own countries and as European citizens. During the exchange the role of youth will be discussed in a framework of nongovernmental organisations, local governments, informal initiatives and in promoting common European values and self-consciousness.
Interactive methods will allow youth to get to know cultures of their peers from other participating countries and to jointly plan follow up activities for involvement in their communities’ life.
Six participants aged 18 – 26 years from each country will be present and two leaders of each group.
On preparatory meeting group leaders from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Portugal and Croatia defined activities for the youth exchange, roles of the group leaders and activities concerning organization of exchange.
Project is financed by the European Commission Youth Programme “Youth in Action”.
