10 October 2016 in premises of Sisak Association of Blind People, the 2nd session of the Town of Sisak Committee for Development of Volunteering took place. The purpose of the Committee is to monitor the Sisak Local Voluntary Policy 2015-2020 implementation and to provide enabling environment for community development led by volunteering.
The Committee adopted documents related to opening calls for the Committee logo design, Annual Prize for Sisak Volunteers and, for the first time, Annual Prize for Sisak Volunteer’ Coordinators.
The session discussed upcoming activities within the Volunteer’ centre Sisak and one of the novelty is organisation of the traditional annual Fair of associations in May at promenade alongside river Kupa in Sisak, instead of in December like so far, explained Mrs Paula Raužan, the Committee Coordinator, president of the LDA Sisak. New round of the Training for volunteer’ coordinators is starting from this month, as an excellent opportunity for building capacities of associations and public institutions for development of high quality voluntary programs in Sisak area. Alongside the training, non-formal meetings of volunteers and thematic meeting of volunteer’ coordinators are planned with the purpose of exchange of best practices and mutual learning. Except of promoting and developing volunteering, the purpose of the meetings is to get to know better Law on Volunteering, rights and obligations of volunteers, and with idea and purpose of volunteering itself.
The Committee members adopted changes of particular activities and concluded that our local community needs more new activates dedicated to recognition and acceptation of values promoted by volunteering but moreover, for inclusive participation of all citizens in active community development.
