The Project “YOUNG PEOPLE AND CIVIL SOCIETY – A STEP TO THE COMMON EUROPEAN VALUES” will be accomplished by Club NGO Targovishte in the course of five months. This is a multi-national youth exchange project which will include young people from 4 countries – Bulgaria, Portugal, Ukraine and Croatia (the first two being EU member states and the second two being EU neighbouring countries). The project is mainly concerned with the participation of young people in the structures of civil society.
The project will be focused on four main sub-topics:
- Young people’s role in non-governmental organisations
- Young people’s role in informal civic groupings
- Young people’s role in local governments
- The role of young people in promoting common European values and self-consciousness.
The methods which the project will use include non-formal civic education, exchange of good practices and ideas through group work in workshops, familiarising the participants with the national cultures of each participating country and getting to know each other as individuals, evaluation and dissemination of the project activities and results, and several additional follow up activities.
The main aim of the project is to enable the participants form the four countries to learn how they can become active citizens and how they can become actively and effectively involved in youth activities and youth organisations both in their own countries and as European citizens.
As part of its goal, the project will accomplish the following activities:
- Preliminary meeting with the group leaders from the four countries
- Preparation and realisation of youth exchange in the period 01.04.2008 – 12.04.2008 in Targovishte, Bulgaria
- Assessment and evaluation of the project activities
- Follow up activities, such as preparation of a CD with the project results and setting up a project internet site.
