That volunteering is motivating positive changes in one society, authentically is showed this Monday, 5 December 2016, in the Galery “Sveti Kvirin” of the Sisak Culture Home, where Sisak celebrated the International Volunteer Day.
In this occasion, the Local Democracy Agency Sisak in cooperation with the Town of Sisak organised the Opening of the Sisak volunteer programs photo exhibition titled “Growing together”, where the annual prizes for Sisak volunteers and volunteer coordinators in 2016 are awarded.
In the category Volunteer Coordinator, prize winner is Vera Zaloker on behalf of the Sisak General Hospital and prize winners in category Volunteer of the year are Davorka Novak on behalf of association of Croatian Veterans, Josipa Drvodelić on behalf of the LDA Sisak and Damir Šljivar on behalf of association Citizens Initiative “Sisak my town”.
The commendation goes to volunteers: Višnjica Pučko on behalf of Sisak General Hospital and informal group Sisak volunteers, Marija Vuksan on behalf of Rectory Caritas of the “Sv. Križ” parish and Dean Radaković on behalf of association Novi svijet.
Letter of thanks received volunteers: Antonija Babić and Arijana Babić on behalf of Sisak Red Cross, Dolores Pancirov on behalf of Children Home Vrbina and Dobrila Maksimović on behalf of the Sisak Diabetic Association.
Letter of thanks for volunteer coordinator received Ivančica Velić on behalf of the association Citizens Initiative “Sisak my town”.
These well-deserved rewards to excited awardees gave the Mayor of Sisak, Mrs Kristina Ikić Baniček and the LDA Sisak President, Paula Raužan. Volunteers Karlo Štengl and Vedran Šimunec enriched the ceremony with a music program.
On this occasion, the LDA Sisak celebrated the 5 years of the Volunteers Centre Sisak work that is operating within its program, recognising un-selfishness effort of hard-working volunteers working on a community development through volunteering.
Town of Sisak value the benefits of volunteering, giving more space to voluntary work recognition and support. Therefore, it established the Town of Sisak Committee for Development of Volunteering year ago, monitoring implementation of local voluntary policy and supporting further volunteer’ development.
Active young people contribute to improvement of voluntarism, together with others who understand that for building a quality community is necessary to contribute ourselves. Besides that, volunteering helps in personal development great deal, same as in integration and solidarity based on historical context of volunteering.
Local Democracy Agency Sisak thanks to everybody helping in preparing and implementing this celebration and invites all interested to visit the exhibition until 8 January 2017.
