On January 30, 2023, Local Democracy Agency Sisak held a workshop on volunteering for students of the Sisak Vocational School.
The pupils had the opportunity to find out all about the rights and obligations of volunteers and volunteer coordinators. Through fun games and laughter, they got answers to questions relating to volunteering, learned what the Law on Volunteering is, how it defines volunteering, who can become a volunteer, and who are the organizers of volunteering. With carefully asked questions and examples, pupils were encouraged to think about the motivation and reasons why people decide to volunteer.
Through project Platforma for the Development of School Volunteering ALD Sisak provides support to the Vocational School Sisak in establishing a school volunteer club, and therefore at the workshop pupils were encouraged to think about the needs of vulnerable social groups in their community and about specific volunteer actions to talk about social justice issues.
Their interest and wealth of ideas showed that children and young people truly are the greatest hope for a better tomorrow. During their education, we guide and shape them with the hope that one day they will have the strength, intelligence and emotional readiness to overcome everything life brings them. In the sea of information they receive daily, it is very important to set aside time to educate young generations about how volunteering can help not only others but also themselves.

The workshop was held as part of the project Platform for the Development of School Volunteering, which is implemented by the Local Democracy Agency Sisak in cooperation with the Sisak Vocational School, the House of Human Rights Zagreb and the Norwegian partner Norsensus Mediaforum.
